Connect Instagram Direct

Use an Instagram Professional account linked to a Facebook Page to receive DMs in Fahsai.

Instagram delivers messages through the same plumbing as Facebook, so you need an Instagram Professional account linked to a Facebook Page — and you can reuse the Meta App from the Facebook guide.

Step-by-step

  1. Step 1

    Switch to a Professional account and link a Facebook Page

    In the Instagram app, open your account settings, switch to a Professional account (Business or Creator), and link it to the Facebook Page you use. Then allow access to messages from third-party tools in your message privacy settings.

    Heads upPersonal accounts cannot be connected, and without a linked Facebook Page the platform cannot see your DMs at all.

  2. Step 2

    Prepare the access token and Instagram ID

    In the same Meta App you used for the Facebook Page, add the Instagram product, issue an access token with permission to read and reply to Instagram messages, and copy the numeric Instagram ID of the business account.

    TipThe Instagram ID is a number, not the @username.

  3. Step 3

    Add the Instagram channel in Fahsai

    In Fahsai, open the channels page, choose to add an Instagram channel, fill in the fields listed below and save.

    Copy the webhook URL and verify token

    Once the channel is saved, Fahsai generates a webhook URL and a verify token for it. Copy both — you need them in the next step.

  5. Step 5

    Configure the Instagram webhook in the Meta App

    In the Meta App, open Instagram, select Webhooks, paste the webhook URL and verify token, press Verify and save, then subscribe to the Instagram messages field.

  6. Step 6

    Check that the channel is live

    Send a DM to the business account from another personal account. If everything is set up correctly the message shows up in the Fahsai inbox and the channel status turns active.

    TipMeta limits how long you have to reply to a message. Conversations older than that window can no longer be answered.
